The Congress has said citizens of the state should think with an open mind and not fall for jingoism being played by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

AICC North East media coordinator, Matthew Anthony at a press conference today said the party has seen injustices committed by the incumbent government in Delhi, from economic, social and political since the BJP took over the reins in 2014.

He acknowledged that the Congress made mistakes in the past but the party has never run away from it. “We tried to correct our mistakes. And we’ve tried to govern this country with people in our mind. We are absolutely confident that it is the people who are going to elect us again,” Anthony said.

He added the 10 years of injustice, should be put to an end and that Congress is an alternative to that.

Concerning the unemployment rate in India is mind-boggling, Anthony said “44 per cent of people between the age of 20 and 24 are unemployed. 33 per cent of graduates postgraduate PhD are unemployed. In 2012, the Congress government was providing 75 lakhs jobs per year. And in 2022 BJP government is not even touching 29 lakhs per year. We are talking about absolute data.”

He also questioned the BJP on how long will they continue to fool the people? “How long you will fool the people on religion and other aspects of it? How long you will ignore the realities of life?”
