An advertisement inviting candidates to apply for various posts at the Ayush hospital in Mawkyrwat has raised eye brows as only 24 out of 40 posts were announced by the District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO), South West Khasi Hills District.
According to the Khasi Students Union (KSU), Mawkyrwat circle while a letter from the health department to the DMHO had detailed the number of requirements at the 10-bedded Ayush hospital the advertisement notice dated February 23, featured only for the post of medical officer (homeopathy), medical officer (Ayurveda), nursing in-charge, nursing staff, midwife, panchakarma tech (male and female), yoga instructor, lab technician, pharmacist and dispenser.
The KSU said the posts of office assistant cum DEO, ward-boy, ward-girl, sweeper, cook, chowkidar, peon and jamadars did not feature in the advertisement notice thereby giving room for back door appointments.
Speaking to reporters, KSU circle general secretary Plosborlin Kharjahrin stated that there is something fishy going on in the recruitment process because as per the letter from the Commissioner Secretary to the Deputy Commissioner the number of posts was 40.
“Where is the advertisement for the 16 posts? This clearly indicates that the unadvertised posts are reserved for somebody to be appointed through back-door,” the KSU leaders stated.
The union has demanded the authorities concern to come clear on the issue for a fair and transparent recruitment process.
