The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has decided to embark on an indefinite hunger strike from Tuesday in order to pressure the state government to implement the roster system retrospectively and to also designate Tura as the winter capital of Meghalaya.
The hunger strike will be led by the ACHIK leader Laben Ch Marak, a former civil servant, until the government responds positively to the twin demands.
The people of Garo Hills have been given stepmotherly treatment despite having Chief Ministers for decades from Garo Hills, the organisation said today in a press release.
