The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has called on the Public Works Department (PWD) to immediately repair the PMGSY road from Sangkni to Durabanda in South Garo Hills.
Greneth M Sangma, ACHIK’s vice-president, said that the road is in a “haphazard and distorted manner”, which points to the “lack of proper design, improper materials and without drainage systems”. Sangma included photographs to support his complaint.
The photos show that whatever blacktopping had been done in the past has now pretty much disappeared, leaving behind gravel, larger stones and earth.
Incredibly, the road was only completed in March, Sangma informed, which, if true, would seem to back up his accusation that the project was executed without proper planning and using improper materials.
