A bank employee from Tura who was kidnapped around five days ago was apparently released by his abductors. It is believed that a ransom was paid for his release.
The Axis Bank employee, 32-year-old Jyotirmoy Burman, was kidnapped on the Tura-Dalu road as he was returning from Guwahati on the morning of March 28.
Following the abduction, a special investigation team of the West Garo Hills police was formed to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.
Burman was released on March 30 after a ransom was allegedly paid by the family members.
Confirming the release, the Superintendent of Police, MGR Kumar, stated that police have leads into the identities of the abductors and the authorities are on their trail.
