The Director of Higher and Technical Education, A Ch Marak, has informed the general public through a press release today that students availing benefits through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) are required to provide their Aadhaar details during the application process.
Furthermore, the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has decided that Scheduled Tribe students seeking pre- and post-matric scholarships will have to provide their Aadhaar details as well.
The NSP system will allow students to fill in the application form online and this will be processed for verification. The disbursement of scholarships (both fresh applications and those for renewal) will only be done if Aadhaar verification has been completed and an Aadhaar-based payment has been enabled.
Therefore, all students availing benefits from different types of scholarship schemes are requested to obtain an Aadhaar number, provide Aadhaar details during scholarship applications and link their Aadhaar number with their bank accounts immediately, Marak said.
