The Constitutional Rights Forum (CRF) has written to the Chief Minister to complain about how people who do not have an Aadhaar number are allegedly being deprived of their rights.
For whatever reason, some people in Meghalaya still do not have an Aadhaar card and the CRF said that court rulings and government rules prevent it being made mandatory.
However, school students are being denied admission, MGNREGA beneficiaries are not getting work or being paid and banks are refusing to open new accounts for persons without Aadhaar. The CRF wants the state government to take action against such practices.
