Shillong, Jul 31: Meghalaya celebrated its achievements in the Sampoornata Abhiyaan, a flagship initiative launched by NITI Aayog at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The campaign which began from July 2024 to September 2024 focused on achieving saturation in six critical key performance indicators (KPIs) under the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programme, targeting the most underdeveloped regions across the country.
Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar congratulated Ri-Bhoi district for achieving saturation in three critical indicators — supplementary nutrition for pregnant women, distribution of soil health cards, and timely delivery of textbooks to school children. He also commended Amlarem, Resubelpara, and Umling blocks for saturating soil health card generation, thereby advancing sustainable agriculture and improving farmer livelihoods.
He lauded the unwavering efforts of deputy commissioners, block development officers, frontline workers, and community stakeholders whose dedication and collaborative approach have made these achievements possible. He emphasised that the success of the Sampoornata Abhiyaan is a testament to the power of data-driven governance, innovation, and grassroots participation.
Calling for sustained commitment, the Governor urged all districts and blocks across Meghalaya to emulate these achievements and strive for saturation across all key indicators. He reiterated that the mission goes beyond meeting targets, but about transforming lives, empowering communities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
The Governor also presented commendations to the achievers and reaffirming Meghalaya’s dedication to advancing inclusive, sustainable, and people-centric development, in alignment with the State’s commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Chief Secretary Donald P Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department Dr. Joram Beda and other officials were present on the occasion.
