Shillong, Jul 26: The office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Meghalaya, organized a one-day workshop on streamlining the issuance of No Demand Certificates (NDC) on loans for state government officials and employees.
The workshop focused on reducing the time required to issue NDCs for both serving and retired employees – a critical component in the timely processing of pensionary benefits. Delays in NDC clearance often hinder pension disbursement, and this initiative aims to remove such bottlenecks through better coordination and process reforms.
The event saw participation from officials of the PAG office, State Finance Department, and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) from the Agriculture Department. The interactive sessions enabled productive knowledge – sharing on prevailing challenges and practical approaches to streamline the NDC process across departments.
Inaugurating the workshop on behalf of the Principal Accountant General, the Deputy Accountant General (AE&VLC) highlighted the crucial role of NDCs in pension settlements and urged all departments to implement the best practices shared during the discussions.
This proactive initiative is expected to significantly contribute to faster clearance of NDCs, timely pension disbursement, and overall strengthening of financial governance mechanisms in the State Government of Meghalaya.
