Shillong, Jul 26: The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched a new scheme, “NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025”, to provide free and competent legal services to Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and their family members. The scheme was launched during the Regional Conference held in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday.
The scheme aims to establish dedicated Legal Services Clinics in collaboration with the Kendriya Sainik Board, Zila Sainik Board, and Rajya Sainik Board under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence.
These clinics will provide prompt and effective legal assistance to Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and their family members through NALSA’s nationwide network of legal aid lawyers.
The Legal Services Clinic, Rajya Sainik Board, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Shillong, Meghalaya, aims to provide all the necessary assistance providing free and competent legal services as per the scheme guidelines to the Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and their family members who requires legal services/assistance.
The Legal Services Clinic, Rajya Sainik Board, Shillong, Meghalaya will be manned by the Legal Aid Counsels and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority/District Legal Services Authority, Shillong.
The launching of the scheme was joined virtually by the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court Indra Prasanna Mukerji, Patron-in-Chief, MSLSA, Justice Hamar Sing Thangkhiew, Executive Chairman, MSLSA and E Kharumnuid, MHJS, Registrar General, Meghalaya High Court.
