One Mebanlang Warjri and Tony Paul Basaiawmoit were sentenced to life in jail in a POCSO case by M. Kumar, Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills on June 25.
Warjri and Basaiawmoit of Pyndenumiong village were found guilty under Section 5(g) of the POCSO Act. This section relates to aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a child. The convicted felons were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000.
Details of the case were not revealed. The case was registered at Mairang Police Station, Eastern West Khasi Hills district on May 8, 2017 and investigated by woman police sub inspector DP Nongbri.
