The State government has reiterated and maintained that there is no irregularity or illegality in the weighment of goods vehicles across 28 weighbridges.
This is the second submission made by the State before the Meghalaya High Court after the petitioner disputed the report of the State that no overloaded truck was detected during a spot inspection carried out in 24 weighbridges across the State.
The division bench of Chief Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh on Thursday directed Dr. P. Agarwal, the Advocate for the petitioner, Tennydard M Marak to file an affidavit containing details with sufficient evidence to show the error or falsity in the report of the government by August 1, 2025.
“Shorn of the necessary details, it would not be possible for this Court to adjudge the merits of the allegation made by the petitioner,” the court said.
The next hearing of the PIL is scheduled for August 5, 2025.
