The Nokrek Area Development Committee has filed a complaint against the Sai Computer and MePDCL Dalu Sub-Division for providing poor electricity services.
The committee has raised the issue with Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal in a letter sent through the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, wherein it raised concerns over irregular power supply during summer, winter, and rainy seasons, that is affecting villagers who have to live without electricity for more than two weeks.
It said that there is shortage of linemen in the Dalu MePDCL Sub-Division, resulting in delayed repair and maintenance work of damaged electric poles and lines. The current breaker system causes frequent disruptions in power distribution too, the committee said.
Another complaint raised is excessive billing for BPL households receiving unusually high electricity bills, duplicate billing in single households and billing for non-existent houses, neglect in line clearance, damaged meters and false billing and erection of high tension lines over residential houses.
“The villagers are suffering greatly due to the negligence of the concerned authorities, and we seek your kind support to resolve these matters at the earliest,” Secretary of the committee Chegan N Marak urged.
