The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, announced today that a three-day ‘Professional Photography Training Programme’, will be held from May 20 to 22 in collaboration with OM System (formerly Olympus Corporation).
This hands-on training workshop is designed to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of professional photography. The workshop will offer an opportunity for aspiring photographers to engage with advanced equipment and expert guidance.
Over the course of three days, participants will receive intensive training using OM System’s professional-grade cameras and lenses. The sessions will cover essential aspects of photography, including camera operations, equipment handling, lighting techniques, composition and visual storytelling. The workshop has been structured to blend technical know-how with creative insights.
The training will be led by three experts from the industry – Ravendra Pal, Product Manager at OM System, Arihant Mukhedkar, a fashion and advertising photographer, and Sudipta Chakraborty, a nationally and internationally recognised wildlife photographer.
This workshop, it is hoped, will be especially beneficial for students pursuing journalism, mass communication, visual arts and related disciplines. It aims to empower them to use photography as an effective storytelling medium to enrich their narratives with creativity, clarity and context.
Further details and registration can be accessed through the department.
