Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has called on the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to redefine its role by adapting to the changing dynamics of communication.
Addressing a conclave on “Emerging Trends in Public Communication- Redefining the Role of DIPR” on March 5 at the State Convention Centre, here the minister emphasised the vital role of DIPR in ensuring effective communication between the government and its citizens.
“The role of DIPR needs to be redefined. In today’s fast-paced world, it is crucial that the department adapts to the changing dynamics of communication, ensuring that government initiatives and schemes reach the last mile – to every citizen, regardless of their location”, she said.
Pointing out that the DIPR plays a central role in informing citizens about the various government schemes available to them she remarked, “While these schemes can often be seen, the true strength of the DIPR is its ability to disseminate information widely and effectively. It is not always about being visible, but about ensuring that the message is received, understood, and acted upon.”
Lyngdoh stressed that the DIPR’s role in governance is of utmost importance. “We have a prime responsibility to be the multiplier of information, empowering citizens by providing them with the knowledge they need to avail the various schemes and resources available to them,” she emphasised.
