Award-winning author Kynpham Sing Nongkynrih and singer and lyricist Amabel Susngi will take part in the special edition of the Brahmaputra Literature Festival to be held for the first time in New Delhi from February 6 to 8.

The festival, which is always held in Assam, is being organised by the Adharxila Trust to celebrate finest writing and culture from the Northeast region. It aims to create meaningful connections between the Northeast and the rest of India, as well as with neighbouring countries and the global literary and publishing communities.

The event will feature a diverse lineup of 42 speakers across 12 sessions over three days, offering a rich exploration of literature and art from the Northeast.

Festival co-director Mary Therese Kurkalang said, “Curating a literature festival is, for me, both deeply meaningful and a great responsibility. It requires careful reflection on its purpose and themes, shaping them into a programme that thoughtfully considers the how, where, and for whom it is created.”

She said the festival celebrates voices from the region while connecting them to the broader literary and publishing worlds across the country and beyond. “My hope is to nurture the festival’s growth in Assam, fostering empathy, understanding, and respect—the timeless role that literature and art play in bridging divides in our fractured world,” she added.
