East Khasi Hills police arrested two persons, including a juvenile in possession of 60.98 grams of heroin during an operation conducted in Madanrting locality here today.
Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said the drug was packed in six soap boxes.
A criminal case under relevant provisions of the law has been registered in connection with the seizure even as investigation is currently underway to establish the source of the narcotics and to identify and dismantle the network involved in this illegal trade, he said.
“This successful operation is part of the intensified efforts by East Khasi Hills DEF to combat the proliferation of illegal narcotics in the district and to protect the community from the adverse impacts of drug abuse,” he added.
