After five games in a row at home Shillong Lajong FC took to the road for their sixth match of the I-League 2024-25 season but they did not experience a joyful time at Delhi FC as they lost 3-1 in Mahilpur, Punjab, today.
Vanlalhriatzuala (7’) put the home side in front early but Phrangki Buam of Lajong managed to bring the match to level-pegging in the 34th minute.
The second half is where the game went against SLFC, with Stephane Binong (54′) and Himanshu Jangra (66′) stretching Delhi’s lead. Things got even worse for the visitors as Daniel Goncalves was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card.
With just one win from their first six matches, Lajong are down in ninth position. This was their last match ahead of the New Year, giving them time to regroup.
The Reds’ next match will be against Real Kashmir FC on January 10 at 7pm in Shillong.
