A man intentionally drove his SUV into a paddy field injuring himself, his wife and another passenger, after a domestic argument today.
According to police, the couple who were travelling from Ïewmawlong towards Pahamlapong in Ri Bhoi district had a heated argument inside the Mahindra XUV bearing temporary registration number ML 05 JTC 0003, in the presence of another person (name withheld).
During the argument, the wife struck the passenger that triggered the husband, who was driving the vehicle. In a fit of anger and frustration, he steered the vehicle off the road into a paddy field, police said.
All three occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for medical attention.
The case has been handed over to the Women’s Police Station in Nongpoh for further investigation.
