The recent accident involving a pilot escort vehicle (Mahindra Thar) of the State police in which a young lad was killed leaving his friend in serious injuries calls for regulation of the movement of VIP as well for the need to train basic courtesy and etiquette amongst the drivers.
The incident has cast a blot on the image of the State police with no sense or sensitivity leave alone compassion. The police personnel involved should have surrendered to the nearest police station and should be booked under Section 106(2) BNS 2023 with ten years of rigorous imprisonment.
Merely serving a notice can be dubbed an eyewash in the media and lenient trial. However, the State Police Department should pay compensation to the bereaved family of Late Hudderfield Rymbui and set the record straight.
The use of public roads is not the private proprietorship of an MLA, MDC or any so-called important persons. Every citizen has the right of way. The public should show such nincompoops that we won’t tolerate uncultured VIPism in the State.
