The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of East Jaiñtia Hills yesterday organised the Women Farmer’s Day, or Mahila Kisan Diwas, at Khliehriat.
Deputy Project Director of the agency, G Kharshandi, expressed pride in the matrilineal system of Meghalaya and the empowerment of women in various fields, including farming. He also lauded women farmers who, despite various challenges, have stepped up in this field.
Others who spoke at the programme included ATMA Project Director L Lakiang, District Horticulture Officer East Jaiñtia Hills District Deibormi Dhar, among others.
