An integrated health camp was launched in West Jaintia Hills District that aims to provide comprehensive health care service for two months in the entire district.
The camp which was launched yesterday will hold 17 static camps along with outreach services covering 150 to 200 villages of West Jaintia Hills.
The campaign is a collaborative effort between the District Medical & Health Officer, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Meghalaya Aids Control Society (MACS), Shillong and other line departments.
During the two months campaign, beneficiaries will receive a wide range of services including general health check up, testing and treatment for tuberculosis (TB), HIV, testing for Hepatitis B and C with relevant treatment, MHIS registration and also house to house visit.
Synjuk Ki Waheh Shnong Ri Jaintia president, A. Lipon graced the event as the chief guest accompanied by Waheh Chnong of Ladthadlaboh, A. Shullai, and officials from the Health Department.
Lipon said the campaign will be a valuable opportunity for people to take advantage of the health facilities and urged them to actively engage in the camps.
MACS project director, Dr B. Decruse in her keynote address highlighted the significance of the campaign with a focus in rural areas. She also outlined the campaign’s objective of providing free medical consultation.
She specifically noted that HIV remains a primary concern during the campaign highlighting the need to increase awareness and preventive measures.
District Social Welfare Officer R. Passah also spoke on the occasion.
