The CAU-KVK South Garo Hills installed a high capacity oil extraction unit under the North East Hills component of AICRP Rapeseed Mustard (CAU Imphal) sponsored by ICAR-DRMR, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
The unit is capable of processing 40-50kg per hour, extracting and filtering edible oils. A demonstration of the device took place today for farmers and rural youth of South Garo Hills. Thirty-five participants from three villages attended the programme.
Athokpam Haribhushan, Principal Scientist and Head of the KVK South Garo Hills, appealed to the farmers to increase oilseed cultivation, especially rapeseed and mustard seed and to use the post-harvest machinery installed at the centre at a nominal rate.
