Pyngrope who considers herself an orphan since she does not know who her parents were at the time she was born and till today was born with a spinal medical condition that made her unable to walk.
During her childhood she would use her hands to crawl and move around from one place to another. It was when she reached Class 7 that she started using a wheelchair to move around places.
Though Pyngrope was physically challenged, she was determined to achieve what she aimed for. She completed her schooling in Jyoti Sroat School, a school for the differently-abled person till her 12th standard.
She wanted to continue her studies but as she is an orphan with no one to support she has to break from her studies and search for a job to support herself where she later worked at Nazareth Hospital to earn enough to support her further studies.
It is only after this time and under a special scholarship that she was able to pursue her graduation in Psychology at Lovely Professional University, Punjab.
After her graduation, she applied for a job in her old school Jyoti Sroat and now she is working as a receptionist in this institution.
With her aim in sports, it was in 2018 that Pyngrope showed her interest in sports and she started playing wheelchair basketball where she finds it very beneficial for her health.
Last year when arm wrestling for a special category was introduced, Pyngrope took part in two competitions in the State.
She was later selected to be among the more than 80 wheelchair arm wrestlers to take part in a competition in Nagpur, Maharashtra where she bagged the second and third prize.
On her return to her home in Shillong, Pyngrope was again selected to represent India at the World Arm Wrestling Championship 2024 in Moldova next month.
When asked about her practice, she said that she got only a week’s time before she went to Nagpur.
However, for her competition in Moldova, she has a proper coach to guide her. Every evening she would go for her 3-4 hour coaching on her wheelchair although the coaching centre is quite far from where she lives.
