The three persons of the same family who include the father, mother and son who were buried by landslide at their house in Nongpriang village near Sohra have been found.
Rescue personnel from the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) worked hard since yesterday to locate the victims.
Today morning, the body of Lumlang Riahtam (16) was pulled out from the mudslide.
In the evening, the rescue teams were able to recover the body of Kynmaw Syngai (70) and his wife Benti Riahtam (60).
It may be noted that yesterday evening, the body of Phisar Nongrum (75) who lives in another house was pulled out of the mud.
As a result of heavy rainfall, the massive landslide that flowed from the upper reaches of the village buried two houses in the village yesterday.
Rescue teams from Sohra who included police, fire service personnel and SDRF arrived in the village after an arduous trek down the flight of stairs for around two hours.
The teams had to carry out the rescue operations with their small tools as no heavy machinery could be brought since the village is not connected by road.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Sibhi C. Sadhu has announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the family of the victims.
Moreover, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla along with officials will visit Nongpriang tomorrow to hand over the ex-gratia payment and pay his respect to the departed souls.
