A 25 year old security guard died from electrocution while collecting firewood in Umiam.
The deceased has been identified as Rishanlang Muktieh of Ladlasharai village in Ri Bhoi district.
The incident occurred yesterday when he was collecting firewood near a transformer near the ITD Cementation India Limited at Umiam. The guard was rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The security guard was posted at the Umiam bridge, which is undergoing repairs.
