The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has threatened to take legal steps against the State government over the alleged manipulations in the recent recruitment of ten Lower Division Assistants (LDAs).
The AHAM said that the recruitment conducted by the District Selection Committee (DSC) of South West Garo Hills was manipulated since only non-tribal candidates were selected.
According to the organisation, one candidate was from Assam and as per the 2018 advertisement for the post he is not eligible to submit an application since he did not have permanent residential proof of Meghalaya at that time.
“The District Selection Committee should reject such candidates during the submission of an application. This candidate did not transfer his election identity card from Assam to Meghalaya, but in 2023, he applied afresh at the Electoral Registration office in South West Garo Hills, Ampati,” AHAM South Western Zone general secretary Wester G. Sangma said today.
Sangma also said that AHAM had filed RTI queries on November 15, 2023 from the Public Information Officer (PIO) seeking details on the total number of candidates selected for the viva voce, the total percentage of marks for each candidate from the viva voce, certified photocopies of the result sheets both typing speed test and written paper, and the permanent residential proof which was submitted during the advertisement in 2018.
“The PIO furnished only 20 per cent of the queries. Most of the main points of the RTI queries had not been furnished by the PIO. AHAM as an organisation expressed unhappiness and opposed such kinds of activities. Therefore, AHAM has decided to take further legal steps to bring the matter to a legal resolution,” Sangma added.
