A ‘Dak Community Development Program (DCDP) Mela’ which is specially designed for making extensive awareness about various postal products and schemes offered by the Department of Posts to the local public was held at the sub post office premises in Umiam on January 13.
Seven village chiefs of the surrounding villages attended the programme as guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Development Officer (PLI/RPLI) of the Meghalaya Postal Division, Simon Peter Dohling explained the benefits of the Postal life Insurance & Rural Postal Life Insurance products.
Public Relation Inspector of Shillong GPO, Riten Kma explained the benefits of various postal savings schemes, Dak-Ghar Niryat Kendra, Dak Seva Kendra, Speed Post and Parcel Post Services and India Post Payments Bank services.
Senior Postmaster of Shillong GPO Prasanta Kumar Das and Yash Raj Singh, Inspector of Posts, Ri-Bhoi Sub Division appealed to the people of the area to avail the benefits of various postal products and schemes, and emphasised that all the services offered by the Department of Posts, including the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), are purely people-centric and fully service-oriented.
Meghalaya Postal Division plans to organise such melas in every part of the State to connect the people of the state with the Department of Posts.
