I am writing to express my deep concerns about the all-too-frequent digging up of roads in our city.
While infrastructure development and maintenance are essential for the progress of our community, the frequent disruptions caused by continuous roadworks have become a source of frustration and inconvenience for residents and commuters alike.
It is disheartening to witness the recurrence of road excavation projects. Just as one portion of the road is repaired or upgraded, it seems like another section is immediately torn apart, leading to a never-ending cycle of construction. This not only hampers the smooth flow of traffic but also causes significant delays, leading to wasted time and increased frustration for commuters.
Moreover, the constant digging up of roads has a negative impact on the local economy. Businesses located along these roads suffer due to decreased footfall and accessibility issues, resulting in financial loss.
Additionally, the noise and dust generated by construction activities contribute to a decline in air quality, potentially affecting the health and well-being of nearby residents.
While it is acknowledged that road maintenance is necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of our transportation system, there needs to be better coordination and planning among relevant authorities.
It is imperative that roadworks are strategically scheduled and executed to minimise inconveniences and disruptions to daily life.
Even today the roads are lying in the dug-up state. I hope the publication of this letter in your newspaper will draw the attention of the authorities to our plight and motivate them to expedite the repair work.
