The inaugural edition of the KrimKro Music Festival, held on November 11 at Baljek Jengjal, saw a diverse audience of 30,000 fans attend the post-Wangala Festival event.
The festival, a celebration of musical diversity, featured an eclectic line-up that ranged from traditional Garo folk instrumental performances to contemporary rap, ensuring there was something for every taste.
The crowd, representing a vibrant musical preference, gathered to revel in the power of music that transcends genres and unites communities. KrimKro Music Festival showcased a rich and colourful blend of sounds, fostering an inclusive environment that embraced the varied musical heritage of the region.
One of the highlights of the festival was the mesmerising Garo folk instrumental played by Rongdiping Socio Cultural Club (Resu) and MOA that transported the audience to the heart of traditional rhythms and melodies. The performance not only showcased the cultural richness of the region but also underscored the festival’s commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous musical artistry.
In addition to the diverse musical acts, the festival incorporated a social awareness element. The acclaimed A’chik Theatre Tura took centre stage to present a thought-provoking drama addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse. Through their compelling performance, the theatre team skilfully blended entertainment with a powerful message, encouraging attendees to reflect on the social challenges surrounding substance abuse.
