The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) today said that ten candidates selected for MBBS study in the open category and waiting list had submitted documents which are incomplete and dubious in nature and not as per the criteria set by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

In its memorandum submitted to Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, the KSU raised objections to the MBBS quota list of 2023 released recently by the DHS.

According to the KSU, one of the conditions issued by the DHS is that a copy of the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) is mandatory for all applicants.

“However many selected candidates from the open category did not submit the necessary document,” the KSU alleged.

It also stated that the ten candidates did not submit relevant documents as per the directives of the DHS. “Also absence of PRC as one of the submitted documents invites disqualification of such candidates,” the KSU said.

Stating that birth certificates which are devoid of a serial number and a court order should attract a thorough investigation as to how such documents are issued by the concerned authorities, the KSU demanded immediate disqualification of the ten candidates from the open category list and in their place, genuine and bona fide candidates should be included.

Briefing about the credentials of the ten candidates, the KSU said that Mehbub Hassan did not submit the PRC but instead a Provisional PRC issued on June 7, 2023 in Dadenggre and valid for only 12 months was submitted.

“The candidate was born in the year 2001 and birth certificate was issued in 2019 which lacks a proper serial number and a court order to verify the same,” it added.

Another candidate Monimul Ekram Mondal did not submit the birth certificate and PRC. He submitted a Provincial PRC which is valid for only three months.

Ayush Kumar submitted only a birth certificate from Bihar without a court order. He also submitted a CBSE document from Rajasthan and a PRC from East Jaintia Hills.

Md Mahmadul Islam submitted a birth certificate which was issued in 2012 and registered in 2002 although he was born in 2003.No PRC was submitted by him but a Provincial PRC from West Garo Hills valid for 12 months was submitted.

Atifa Zaman did not submit the birth certificate and PRC. He submitted a Provincial PRC from West Garo Hills which is valid for only 12 months.

Chiranjit Kumar Paul submitted a birth certificate issued in 2008 whereas he was born in 2005. However, court order was absent in the said certificate. No PRC was submitted by him but instead a Provincial PRC was submitted which is valid only for 12 months.

Deeya Choudhary submitted the PRC but no birth certificate was submitted including her place of birth.

Angoor Zaman Hoque submitted a birth certificate without court order and serial number. No PRC was submitted by him except a Provincial PRC from West Garo Hills valid for 12 months.

Abdul Kalam Golam Mahdi Alom submitted a birth certificate issued in 2014, 12 years after his birth. The birth certificate lacks court order and serial number. He did not submit the PRC but only submitted a Provincial PRC issued on May 16, 2023 and valid for only three months.

Habibur Rehman, a candidate that features in the waiting list of the open category did not submit a PRC but in its place a Provincial PRC valid for only 12 months was submitted. His place of birth was not determined.
