NE Ride, a pioneering Shillong-based startup co-founded by Robert Ryntathiang and Inimenkyrkhu Suja, has launched a mobile applications, AnyRide Rider and AnyRide Captain.
With the unveiling of AnyRide Rider and AnyRide Captain, NE Ride introduces an innovative solution to two significant challenges faced by urban communities.
The first app, AnyRide Rider, empowers passengers to book rides on two-wheelers, local taxi and tourist taxis including auto rickshaws, enabling smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion. By providing flexible and diverse transportation options, NE Ride is contributing to a more efficient and sustainable urban mobility landscape.
The second app, AnyRide Captain, presents an opportunity for drivers to embrace self-employment and be a part of the rapidly expanding gig economy. NE Ride recognises the importance of ensuring passenger safety. To this end, the company employs a stringent verification process for drivers.
Before being approved to accept rides, drivers are required to upload essential documents, including a passport-style selfie for identity verification.
These documents are meticulously checked and verified at the company’s back office, located in Itshyrwat, Shillong ensuring only legitimate and responsible drivers are on the platform.
NE Ride’s commitment to passenger safety goes beyond verification procedures. The app allows passengers to share ride details with a trusted contact before embarking on a journey.
Additionally, a helpline and emergency number are integrated into the app, enabling passengers to reach out for assistance in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
In alignment with government regulations, NE Ride maintains reasonable fare rates that are beneficial for both passengers and drivers. This strategic approach not only supports passengers in securing affordable rides but also combats the prevalent issue of fare exploitation by drivers.
During the initial launch phase, NE Ride encountered a minor technical setback with compatibility issues on certain mobile models. However, the company promptly addressed this challenge with the help of valuable user feedback.
The NE Ride development team worked diligently to rectify the issues, ensuring that the apps are now functioning flawlessly, delivering a seamless and enjoyable experience for users.
AnyRide Captain and Rider apps are operational throughout Meghalaya. At present the app can be downloaded from Google Play Store, future update for placing in Apple Store is also in the pipeline.
