The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP) has demanded the demanded the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), NER in Umiam to reinstate three terminated local workers.
According to CORP the three workers were terminated without any specified reasons.
CORP President, Bandari Ryntathiang told reporters after meeting with the Chief Administrative Office Senior Grade on the issue that termination of workers without reasons is not new in ICAR. He said this hampers their livelihood especially those who have served the institute for long years.
“We were informed that once a new scientist or officer joins, a new worker is appointed by them and the ICAR authority has to terminate workers who serve the department for more than 10 years and when a project is completed,” Ryntathiang stated.
He also said following the meeting the ICAR has assured to convene a meeting to discuss on the termination issue.
