Irked by the non-functional Khliehriat Civil Hospital the Jaiñtia Students Union (JSU) today erased the name of the hospital and also erected black flags as a mark of protest.
The 100-bed hospital, which was upgraded from a community health centre, was inaugurated in February last year.
However, according to the union, the hospital lacks proper medical equipments and infrastructure and failed to deliver quality healthcare services to the patients.
JSU President, Livingson Sama said the upgrade was to be found only in the signboard, not in actual reality. He said it is importance to not merely upgrade facilities in name but the government should ensure that the hospital receives all the necessary resources to function effectively and provide adequate healthcare services.
“Governments and authorities should consider the concerns raised by organizations and work towards addressing any deficiencies in the upgraded hospital promptly,” he added.
