Newly elected Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem today informed that Congress leader Pynshngain Syiem will be the new Deputy CEM of the council.
Speaking to media persons here today, Syiem said that the new Executive Committee (EC) will comprise 11 members.
“We have sent the list of the new EC to the Governor for his approval,” he said although he refused to divulge the names that figured in the list.
“The list will be shared with the media once it gets the Governor’s approval,” Syiem said.
He also said that Congress MDC from Mawhati Charles Marngar will take over as the new Deputy Chairman in place of Alvin K. Sawkmie who will be inducted in the EC.
Syiem informed that the election of Deputy Chairman will be held tomorrow.
“At least five-six MDCs who are not in the EC will be assigned as chairmen of various advisory committees of the council,” Syiem said.
It may be mentioned that NPP with 12 MDCs and Congress with six have formed the Khasi Hills Democratic Front (KHDF) to lead the KHADC.
