The Trained Nurses Association of India, West Jaintia Hills Unit today celebrated the Nurses Day at Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Modop, Nartiang on the theme, “Our Nurses, Our future”.
The Day is celebrated every year on May 12 to honour the contribution of the Nurses.
Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shyllla who attended the occasion during his speech applauded the nurse fraternity for the selfless service and dedication. He said nursing is the toughest job with many challenges and many of the nurses have chosen to dedicate their services to mankind with pleasant smiles and loving care.
He stated that the State government has already taken the initiative and is focusing on the issues related to health and he assured them of his availability to listen and to take up matters with the Health Department in case they need any kind of assistance with regards to infrastructure.
He also informed that through the National Rural Health Mission, two Urban Health centres have been sanctioned in Iawmusiang and Mihmyntdu.
Dr. A.M Paswett, District Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Programme Dr. R.Pohsnem, Senior Medical Officer incharge Nartiang PHC were also present on the occasion.
Phiralin Kharongor, Associate Professor North Adventist College of Nursing in her keynote address highlighted the theme of the day. The association also felicitated retired nurses on the occasion.
