The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has stood by its allegations made against the Urban Affairs Department over the filling of job vacancies.
On Sunday, ACHIK accused the Director of Urban Affairs of acting illegally in appointing non-Garos to posts that were meant to be reserved for the community despite 13 names being submitted to the department.
Yesterday, the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) met with the Director, E Kharmalki, here. Kharmalki reportedly explained to HITO that the two vacant posts have yet to be filled but have been redesignated from sweeper to peon and from cleaner to chowkidar.
Today, ACHIK insisted that the two posts were filled by non-Garos and warned HITO to “do its homework” before making statements that “would encourage corruption and unlawful activities”.
Meanwhile, ACHIK has continued to spread its wings and has approved the formation of a regional unit based in Tikrikilla, which is to be led by Steward R Marak as president and Bikku A Sangma as general secretary.
