The 14 year old case related to the rape of minor for which a KHADC court had set for hearing of a witness today got further delayed as the judge was not present to conduct the hearing.
The case which occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of Sohra police station was reported in the Highland Post on April 23.
Activists who had gone to the court to see the proceedings told Highland Post that they had been told that the judge in whose court the case was to be heard had taken leave.
The mother of the child, who had filed the FIR in 2009, was summoned as witness today.
The woman had arrived early today from a village located about 28 kms from Shillong in deference to the KHADC Court summons.
Along with her today to attend the court hearing was her daughter who was seven years old in 2009 and who has now reached the age of 22 and still waiting for justice.
These trips to the city court and back are a drain on the meagre income of the family.
But even more taxing on them is the heavy mental strain of being dragged around for 14 years as they fight to get justice.
