The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has said that it will brace up to knock the doors of court, if the government remains adamant to do way with personal interviews for recruitment in government jobs.
KHNAM has been demanding discontinuation of personal interviews for the posts of group B, C, and D employees in Meghalaya.
“This is a matter of public importance but the government has never responded to our demands since last year,” KHNAM leader Thomas Passah said.
To push through with the demand leaflets were distributed across the city and Passah said they would soon take out a public rally. “Out last resort would be to file a PIL in the Hight Court and this will be done if the government fails to discuss the issue in the next cabinet meeting,” he added.
According to Passah, most states in the country have discontinued personal interviews in recruitment. Stating that running behind a politician has become more convincing than pursuing studies for getting a government job at present, he said, “The government is silent on this demand because it is these same politicians who are recruiting their own people in government jobs through the way of back door entry, bribery and other dishonest ways.”
He said that such a trend will not be tolerated and expressed hope that the public support this demand that will benefit the youth and not impact the administrative efficiency.
“I want to tell all the regional parties in the government who called out loud during the election for the betterment of the ‘Jaitbynriew’ that it is futile to shout their concerns only during election times,” he said.
