For the first time youth who were provided with a self-learning space in the Chief Minister’s Youth Centres (CMYC), Madanlyngkhi showcased their creations at an exhibition.
From bakery to fashion, arts and coding it was a colourful display of works and projects by learners of the community at the centre.
Madanlyngkhi is one of the twenty potential hubs of innovations and entrepreneurial initiatives for the people of rural communities initiated by the State government under the Smart Village Movement to supplement traditional schooling and focus on creating open and safe learning spaces.
A project that captured the attention of the visitors is the Coding and Website Designing by Aibilissita Majaw.
Sohra MLA Gavin Mylliemngap who attended the exhibition spoke about the importance of self designed learning centres as one of the ways to tackle the growing unemployment problem. He said the centre is a platform for school drop outs to explore and learn as per their interest.
He thanked the two managers of the Madanlyngkhi CMYC, B Khongtim and Tulika Majaw for their selfless devotion to the community.
Meghalaya Skill Development Officer, Aubrey Khonglam stressed on self-employment and not to depend of government jobs.
It may be mentioned that Meghalaya is the first state in India to adopt self designed learning education as a supplement to the existing school systems.
