The Janata Dal-United (JDU) party has terminated two of its leaders, it announced through a press release today.
The party has a miniscule presence in Meghalaya but fielded a few candidates at the recent election, though the best it could do was a distant fifth in Williamnagar, while two candidates came dead last in North Tura and Phulbari.
JDU Meghalaya convenor, Robinus T Sangma, who was the party’s candidate in Williamnagar, said that Cyril D Marak (JDU Meghalaya secretary) and Nehru T Sangma (executive member) were removed for allegedly working against the party.
Robinus said that Cyril was tasked with finding candidates for the recent election but was observed by colleagues “selling himself for other political parties”, misleading party workers and levelling “false allegations” against the candidates.
Nehru was also accused of “selling himself”, “treason” towards the party, speaking falsehoods against Robinus, etc.
