NPP president Conrad Sangma will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for a consecutive second term on March 7.
Governor Phagu Chauhan will administer the oath of office to Sangma at the swearing-in ceremony which will be held at the Raj Bhawan here where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present.
Some MLAs from the ruling alliance are also likely to be sworn in as ministers at the ceremony.
In view of the visit of the Prime Minister on March 7 for the swearing-in ceremony, the police have announced no entry arrangement for vehicles in various routes of the city from 10:20 am to 12:30 pm.
A no entry will be in place from Hynniew Mer at Upper Shillong towards Umshyrpi Bridge and Rilbong Point.
Further, there will be no entry from Khlieh Iew Junction towards Upper Shillong and Anjalee Petrol Pump – Civil Hospital Point – IGP Point -Kachari Point – Raj Bhawan.
Again there will be another no entry from Mahavir Park Junction towards Umshyrpi Bridge and Anjalee Petrol Pump.
No entry will also be imposed from Police Bazaar towards Kachari Point – Raj Bhawan, from CS Junction towards Raj Bhawan and also from Pinewood Hotel towards Raj Bhawan.
No entry will be in force from St. Anthony’s College towards Gurudwara Junction – All India Radio Junction, and also from Lower Lachaumiere towards All India Radio Junction – Raj Bhawan.
Another entry will be in place from Barik Point towards Civil Hospital Junction.
The East Khasi Hills police has asked citizens of Shillong and adjoining areas to avoid journey in and around Shillong city on March 7 unless required or on emergency purposes or take alternate route for their destination.
