The counting of votes in the State today caused heartbreak to some candidates as they lost by a whisker.
Health Minister James Sangma lost Dadenggre seat by just 18 votes to Rupa M. Marak of the Trinamool Congress.
NPP candidate and former MLA Stephanson Mukhim lost the election in Amlarem constituency by 57 votes. The seat was retained by sitting MLA Lahkmen Rymbui.
Aibandaplin F. Lyngdoh, the VPP candidate from Mylliem constituency, lost by only 13 votes. She was defeated by Ronnie V. Lyngdoh of Congress.
“I won the love of the people. I thank all of them for reposing their faith in me,” she told media persons.
