Dr. Nitin Sahai, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong has been selected for the prestigious Long Term ICMR-DHR International Fellowship for Young Indian Biomedical Scientists 2022-23.
Dr. Sahai will visit the Department of Public Health Medicine, Medical School, University of Pecs, Hungary for a period of one year. He is one of the 27 selected candidates from India and the only one from the North East region.
His research during this fellowship will be centered around 3D printing, an emerging technology that involves designing and developing patient-specific orthotics, prosthetics, and other tissues/organs.
The fellowship is sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research and Department of Health Research (DHR), Government of India.
One of the major mandates of ICMR and DHR is to augment capacity strengthening of Indian scientists. The fellowship programme is intended to create a pool of talented health research personnel by facilitating advanced training and exposure to the latest advancements in knowledge through interaction with the international scientists in their respective field of work.
The objective of the long-term fellowship is to learn new techniques, understand research methodology, engage in some meaningful research and get acquainted with the international scientific environment.
The fellowship is a testament to his excellent work in the field of Biomedical Engineering and his dedication to making a significant contribution to the field.
