Film actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP for Gorakpur, Ravi Kishan, today promised that a film city will be set up in Meghalaya as a means to provide employment for local youth and harness their hidden talent in the arts.
Kishan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows the love of music among the youths of Meghalaya and the fact that Shillong is the “Rock Capital” of India and hence they have mooted the idea of working on the project.
The actor said that the move will promote local artists and encourage them to further connect them to Bollywood.
“The youths of Meghalaya who have already excelled in the field of music must come forward and show to the world the talent they possess,” Kishan said.
According to him, the Uttar Pradesh government, which is run by the BJP, has built a 1,000 acre film city – the largest in the country – and a similar initiative could be taken in Meghalaya. As many as 1 lakh jobs could be created if the project becomes a reality, he claimed.
