The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has lodged a FIR against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar for pillion riding without helmets during a procession recently.
HITO said the political leaders have violated the Motor Vehicle Act on February 5 and has also written to the Director General of Police informing him about the FIR lodged.
“You know that pillion riders are to wear helmets and the law is strictly enforced against common people,” HITO said in the complaint to the DGP today.
The organisation also said that there was chaos during the National People’s Party meeting as people were stuck in traffic jam for hours. “This is also a violation of the MV Act and more importantly violation of the model code of conduct,” HITO added.
They sought action against the three who “have abused their position as public representatives to break the law.”
