Distancing himself from the mudslinging of political parties, Samborlang Diengdoh, who was the TMC’s candidates for the Pynthorumkhrah constituency, has resigned from the party and will run for the same seat as an independent.
Speaking to reporters here today, Diengdoh, a businessman, said he wants to avoid the slanging matches that go on between political parties and focus on “constructive politics”, though he added that he has nothing against the TMC leadership and, in his resignation letter, even wished the party all the best in the upcoming polls.
When asked why he joined the TMC in the first place, Diengdoh said that his ideology matched that of the party and he was thus drawn towards it. However, he has not been impressed by everything he has seen.
“In the last few weeks all I see are political parties engaging in mudslinging against each other and we would like to refrain from such kind of politics and instead propagate our own ideology,” he said.
He also said that now that he has resigned from the TMC, he feels more comfortable and confident and this will boost his chances of winning.
When asked about the lack of development in Pynthorumkhrah constituency and absence of water supply in Mawpat, the political aspirant said, “An MLA gets Rs 2.5 crores in the MLA scheme every year and if he spent Rs 40 lakh for each of the six villages under Pynthorumkhrah he can definitely bring all the required developments within five years.”
