As the political mercury in Meghalaya rises with unveiling myriad of projects to public rallies, what intrigues the eye is how money plays a critical element in decision making to woo voters in the thought of bringing better governance.
It is difficult to understand the dynamics of the State in terms of its relationship with the masses and the direction of policymakers, as the index in terms of education and health not showing signs of growth compared to other states in the North-East; we are hitting rock bottom in curbing the drug menace to environmental awareness, youngsters are given no mission parameters, and the roadmap is just on paper.
There is too much noise on the podium with promises hanging fire after clinching victory, politicians using every weapon in their arsenal to win the psychological game in doing their business deals a favour.
Sadly, leadership and accountability are not given due credit as most of our leaders lack mental clarity and to surmount this challenge, we need more plans to be actionable using the commonsense way.
Navy SEAL Jocko Willink in the book ‘Leadership Strategy and Tactics’ describes the importance of proper maneuvering and communication techniques which leadership can be attained. Hopefully, they learn before it is too late.
