A two-day international conference on biodiversity and conservation cum workshop on traditional medicine will be held at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong on December 14 and 15.
The workshop on the traditional medicine will be a major highlight of the programme and will be the first of its kind of event to showcase the traditional healers, their practices and challenges on a bigger platform through the traditional health camp.
The event aims to draw the public’s attention and particularly encourage deliberations and interventions of the policy makers towards our rich biodiversity and the impending challenges and allied issues.
The programme is being organised by the college in collaboration with Bio-Resources Development Centre, an R&D Institution under the State Planning Department.
Minister of Forests & Environment, James P. K. Sangma will inaugurate the event which will also be attended by the Chief Executive Member of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and Chairman, Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission, Titostarwell Chyne and distinguished dignitaries from Health and Family Welfare Department, Planning Department, Forests & Environment Department, Fisheries Department and officials from the Zoological Survey of India.
