The Supreme Court will hear the batch of petitions challenging the validity of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 on December 6.
A bench of Chief Justice U U Lalit and Justices S. Ravindra Bhat and Bela M. Trivedi in an order passed today said: “List the matters before the appropriate bench on December 6, 2022.”
Over 200 petitions have been filed in the top court challenging the validity of CAA.
One such petition – WP (C) No. 144/2020 was filed by social activist Kyrsoibor Pyrtuh.
A battery of senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Sidharth Luthra, Kapil Sibal, P. Wilson and Indira Jaising and others appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
